Berkshire Conference Article Prize
The Berkshire Conference of Women Historians is pleased to announce
the competition for the 1999 Article Prize. This prize has been awarded annually since 1986 to the best article on a historical subject written
by a woman normally resident in North America. The 1998 Prize was
awarded to Julia A. Thomas for "Photography, National Identity, and the
'Cataract of Times': Wartime Images and the Case of Japan", published in The
American Historical Review (December 1998). The winner of the 1999 Prize will
be announced at the meeting of the Berkshire Conference in May, 2000.
Any historical article published in 1999 (either in a journal or
edited volume) written by a woman normally resident in North America is
eligible for the Prize. To nominate an article, send three copies of the
article (not an entire journal issue) to:
