I am pleased to announce that the first Winthrop Papers electronic
seminars have been scheduled for the Atlantic World and Puritan
Prophesying e-seminars, and the papers are available at the web site.
Atlantic seminar: Dr. John Thornton of Millersville University has
provided us with his paper on "African Political Ethics and the Slave
Trade: Central African Dimensions". Discussion will be in the Luanda
chat
room of the Atlantic seminar at noon (Eastern US time) on 8 February.
To
participate in the discussion will require a password that will be
good
for that session only. The paper is to be found at
www.millersv.edu/~winthrop/atlantic.html Passwords will be limited
to
approximately twenty interested individuals. In case of additional
interest Dr. Thornton has agreed to having an added session.
Puritanism Seminar: Dr. Michael Winship of the University of Georgia
has
provided us with his paper on early modern England, "Bridget Cooke and
the
Art of Godly Female Self-Advancement. Discussion will be in the
Dedham
chat room of the Puritan seminar at 12:10 PM on 9 February. To
participate in the discussion will require a password that will be
good
for that session only. The paper, as well as instructions on how to
obtain
a password for the discussion is to be found at
