Brief History
|
Founded November 22, 1981, the Theta Delta Chapter of Sigma Chi was started by seven men: Robert Gaines, John Beckham, Jeff Stauter, Marty Milstead, John Gordon, David Faust, and John Alford. The founders of Theta Delta established the colony Sigma Chi Sigma on January 22, 1980. Even though times were rough for them, they continued the pursuit of a charter for Theta Delta. "Quality before Quantity" became the theme of the chapter, having been the essential rushing technique used by the seven during the first formal rush. About 100 men went through formal rush that year, and Sigma Chi Sigma only gave out 15 bids. To this day, the standard of "Quality before Quantity" is not only the essential rushing philosophy of Theta Delta, but it is the sole reason that we remain the best fraternity at The University of Southern Mississippi. |
